Die neue Arbeit des amerikanischen Komponisten, Choreografen und Regisseurs John Moran ist im wahrsten Sinne eine Offenbarung. Kongenial besetzt mit der in Athen lebenden Tänzerin Vicky Filippa und Moran selbst befasst sich „The Revelation“ mit den Auswirkungen von künstlicher Intelligenz, sozialen Medien und gesellschaftlicher Programmierung auf die Menschheit. Dabei schafft Moran mit seinen „Slice of Life“- Szenarien eine sehr eigenwillige und äußerst virtuose Form von Musiktheater, in dem „alltägliche“ Ereignisse als komplexe musikalisch-choreografische Kompositionen dargestellt werden.

John Moran begann seine Karriere im New York der späten 1980er Jahre. Philip Glass war sein Mentor. Für seine Produktionen wie „The Manson Family: An Opera“ (1990) mit Iggy Pop in der Hauptrolle oder „Book of The Dead (2nd Avenue)“, besetzt u.a. mit Uma Thurman, erhielt er zahlreiche Auszeichnungen. Seit 2008 produziert Moran hauptsächlich in Europa. Unter seiner künstlerischen Leitung hat sich 2020 die Dresdner everyone company gegründet, die Morans unverwechselbare Kompositions- und Performancetechnik weiterentwickelt. In der Schaubühne gastierte John Moran bereits mit der Solo-Performance „Etudes: Amsterdam“ (2016), der Neufassung seiner Oper „The Manson Family“ (2017) sowie mit der Video-/Live-Performance „Die Arie“ (2022).


Vicky Filippa ist Tänzerin, Choreografin und Mitglied des Internationalen Tanzrates (CID) der UNESCO. Seit 2008 inszeniert und choreografiert sie eigene Werke und präsentiert diese sowohl in Griechenland als auch international. Sie unterrichtet den japanischen postmodernen Tanz Butoh und gründete 2015 die Butoh-Tanzgruppe Quantum Body Athens, eine der größten Butoh-Gemeinschaften weltweit.

The new work by American composer, choreographer, and director John Moran is a revelation in the truest sense of the word. Featuring a brilliant cast including Athens-based dancer Vicky Filippa and Moran himself, “The Revelation” explores the impact of artificial intelligence, social media, and social programming on humanity. With his “slice of life” scenarios, Moran creates a highly idiosyncratic and extremely virtuosic form of musical theater in which “everyday” events are presented as complex musical and choreographic compositions.

John Moran began his career in New York in the late 1980s. Philip Glass was his mentor. He received numerous awards for his productions such as “The Manson Family: An Opera” (1990) starring Iggy Pop and “Book of The Dead (2nd Avenue)” starring Uma Thurman, among others. Since 2008, Moran has been producing mainly in Europe. Under his artistic direction, the Dresden-based everyone company was founded in 2020, further developing Moran's distinctive composition and performance technique. John Moran has already made guest appearances at the Schaubühne with the solo performance “Etudes: Amsterdam” (2016), the new version of his opera “The Manson Family” (2017), and the video/live performance “Die Arie” (2022).

Vicky Filippa is a dancer, choreographer, and member of UNESCO's International Dance Council (CID). Since 2008, she has been staging and choreographing her own works and presenting them both in Greece and internationally. She teaches the Japanese postmodern dance form Butoh and founded the Butoh dance group Quantum Body Athens in 2015, one of the largest Butoh communities worldwide.
